Lammtarra Wins English Derby
EPSOM, England —
Lammtarra, a 14-1 shot running only his second race, came from five lengths back in the stretch and won the English Derby on Saturday.
Lammtarra surged from the outside to chase down Tamure and Fahal and won by one length in the 1 1/2-mile race for 3-year-olds.
Lammtarra’s time was a track-record 2 minutes 32.31 seconds.
The winner is a son of the Nijinsky, the last horse to win the English Triple Crown in 1970.
