Two Camarillo men were killed and four others were seriously injured in a weekend crash when their cars collided head-on after one car crossed into oncoming traffic, authorities said Sunday.
Jose Rufino Ramos Mondragon, 27, and Miguel Ramos Mondragon, 25, were killed instantly in the accident at 11:25 p.m. Saturday on Hueneme Road west of Las Posas Road, a Ventura County deputy coroner said.
Details were sketchy late Sunday, but a nursing supervisor said Jose Ramos, 25, was in serious condition at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard. Ruben Ramos was in critical condition at St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo. Arnulfo Salazar, 27, of Camarillo, was in fair condition at Pleasant Valley.
The driver of the second vehicle, who was alone in his car, Jorge Vasquez, 28, also of Camarillo, was in serious condition at St. John’s, the nursing supervisor said.
Details of the accident remain uncertain, with the California Highway Patrol unable to identify the driver of the first car or explain why it crossed into oncoming traffic.
