CSUN Signs Hart’s James
Nancy James of Hart High, who finished fifth in the girls’ 400 in the Southern Section Division I track and field championships, has signed a letter of intent to run track and play soccer at Cal State Northridge.
The Foothill League champion in the 400 and 200, James has bests of 57.09 seconds in the former and 25.8 in the latter, but will make the transition to the 800 in college.
“It might not happen next year, but it will happen some time,” Northridge Coach Don Strametz said. “We’ve already talked about it.”
In soccer, James is a two-time All-Foothill League selection at midfielder.

Baca placed sixth in the steeplechase.
In cross-country, Sallberg placed eighth in the 1994 State championships.
Baca was 27th.
Western State was the runner-up to cross-state rival Adams State in last year’s NCAA Division II cross-country championships, which were held at Kearney, Neb.
