Countywide : Vietnamese Arrival Anniversary Fete Set

In 1975, Operation New Arrivals brought more than 50,000 Vietnamese refugees to the Camp Pendleton, where they were processed before being resettled.
On Saturday, Operation Homecoming will unite Vietnamese Americans in Southern California who want to revisit their point of entry and celebrate the 20th anniversary of their arrival. About 30,000 are expected at the reunion.
“For one day this summer, we hope many will make the pilgrimage back to Camp Pendleton to give thanks to those who gave so much to us at a time when we had nothing,” said Khanh Q. Hoang, one of the coordinators.
The event starts at 10 a.m. at the original camp site at Camp Talega.
