LITTLE TOKYO : Anti-Crime Group Honored for Work
- Share via
The Little Tokyo Anti-Crime Assn. was recently honored with a community service award from the Los Angeles city attorney’s office.
The association was one of nine individuals and groups chosen for their work in furthering law enforcement and a fair criminal justice system through volunteerism and community service.
In 1992, a rash of car break-ins, burglaries and graffiti prompted the formation of the anti-crime association, which initiated a citizen safety patrol program.
Volunteers patrol Little Tokyo and have worked with police officers to set up surveillance in high-crime areas. The association also helped lobby successfully for the creation of a police substation in Little Tokyo.
