A passerby caught a baby dropped from the window of a burning home Wednesday, saving her from a fast-moving fire that killed a toddler and injured nine other residents.

The fire in the three-story home was discovered shortly after midnight.

A driver who saw the blaze stopped and caught a 7-month-old girl who was dropped to her from a second-story window. Firefighters arrived as a woman jumped from a window, screaming, “Get the kids out!”

Firefighters found the body of a 15-month-old girl on the second floor near a window.

The injured included the passing driver, who suffered smoke inhalation; a 21-year-old man and a 5-year-old girl in critical condition, and a 4-year-old girl and 3-year-old girl in guarded condition.
