ROLLER HOCKEY : Blades Blunted by Barracudas

Share

Bobby Hull, Jr., coach of the Los Angeles Blades, predicted a physical game against the San Diego Barracudas and that’s what he and the announced crowd of 4,683 saw at the Forum Saturday night as the Barracudas edged the Blades, 4-3, in an overtime shootout.

Todd Gillingham scored the game winner.

The three goals ties the lowest point production by the Blades this season, and they continue to play dismally in the extra session. While San Diego has connected on 11-of-15 shootout chances this season, the Blades are 4 for 20.

“I think the biggest problem is that there are not enough guys for us who can score consistently, as you saw in the shootout,” Hull said.

Los Angeles (6-7-2) outshot San Diego, 45-28, a statistic rendered meaningless by a franchise-high 42 saves by goalie Frankie Ouellette.
