Arleta : Fund-Raiser to Honor 2 Accident Victims

A fund-raising community barbecue will be held Sunday in memory of two Arleta teen-age brothers killed when their car was struck by a another car driven by an alleged burglar fleeing police.

The event will be from noon to 5 p.m. at Branford Recreation Center, 13306 Branford St., Arleta. Proceeds will benefit a scholarship fund in the boys’ names that will allow two youngsters to play for the recreation center’s baseball league free for one season.

Manuel Osorio, 18, his brother, Fernando Osorio, 16, and their friend, Rafael Carmago Dawe, 17, of Van Nuys were killed June 13 after a man allegedly broke into a Sherman Oaks diner, then broadsided the youth’s car while being chased by police.

The fund-raiser will feature a message from the brothers’ parents, a barbecue, live entertainment, raffles and prizes. For information, call Bob Arles at 896-8432, Paulette Flores at 889-1308, or Katrina Hall, 893-2956.
