Valleywide : Temperatures to Hit 100 Again Today

Share

It was indeed noticeably cooler Sunday around the San Fernando Valley as temperatures dipped back into the 90s after hitting 110 the day before in Woodland Hills, Van Nuys and Burbank.

But don’t get too excited about it, forecasters said.

Temperatures around the Valley should creep past the century mark again today and Tuesday, said Curtis Brack, a meteorologist with WeatherData, which provides forecasts for The Times. After that, he said, expect a “slow cool-down, maybe 5 to 10 degrees.”

The drop in Sunday’s temperatures, he said, resulted from an “upper-level disturbance” moving east from the Pacific Northwest. That cooler air bumped into the mass of hot air camped over Southern California, lowering temperatures a bit, he said.

Highs on Sunday reached 99 in Woodland Hills, 94 in Van Nuys and 92 in Burbank, Brack said.

It was cooler Sunday in the Antelope Valley also. Lancaster, at 109 Saturday, hit a high of 105 Sunday.
