PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : AFC : Doctors Work to Save Mosebar’s Eye

Oakland Raider center Don Mosebar underwent three hours of emergency surgery Thursday at the University of Texas Medical Center as doctors worked to save his left eye.

Mosebar, 33, had a finger jammed into his eye during a morning practice-field drill with the Dallas Cowboys at Austin, Tex.

Trainers attended Mosebar and spectators noticed a profusion of blood. He was taken off the field in a golf cart and immediately to surgery.

“They saved the eye,” Coach Mike White said. “He’s going home Saturday, I don’t know any more than that. The doctor called me from the operating room and said they repaired the eye. Don’t ask me what that means. He had a damaged eye.”

After losing to their expansion brethren, the Jacksonville Jaguars now get to play one of the NFL’s top teams.

The Jaguars are at Miami tonight in a game with more meaning than most exhibition matchups. Jacksonville would like nothing better than to get its first victory, albeit of the exhibition variety, against its downstate rival.

“If they get a win, heaven forbid, they might be talking Super Bowl,” Dolphin safety Louis Oliver said. “If we lose, you’ll see some tickets being redeemed.”
