Barry Gurney of West Hills picked up his third tour victory Thursday night by defeating Avery LeBlanc, 216-187, in the championship match of the $75,000 Rocky Mountain PBA Senior Classic at Fun-Plex Superbowl in Littleton, Colo.

Gurney, a left-hander, pulled ahead by stringing together strikes in the sixth, seventh and eighth frames.

“I’m a nervous wreck,” Gurney said. “Avery had whacked three rivals before our match and I was worried about my chances.”

Northridge plays Inglewood today at 5 at Brookside.

Playing their fourth game in five days at Mission Viejo, Northridge’s 12-year-olds fell to Diamond Bar, 18-14, Wednesday night in the Major Division Little League tournament.

The loss, Northridge’s second in the tournament, ended its season.

Gregg Wallis hit two home runs for Northridge, which never had the lead. Marshall Plouffe and Casey Shaw also homered.

Shaw’s three-run blast in the sixth drew Northridge to within four, but two batters later Diamond Bar turned a double play to end the game.

The 18 runs scored by Diamond Bar matched the number yielded by Northridge in its 11 previous games.

“When we lost that one game, 3-2, against Eagle Rock on Sunday, it forced us to play all of these loser’s bracket games,” Manager Warren Plouffe said. “We just ran out of pitching.”
