Rapist Convicted in 2 More Cases; Faces 100-Year Term
A man already convicted of 16 felonies for kidnaping several girls and raping them in vacant apartments was found guilty Tuesday of two more assault charges.
Robert Lee Donaldson, 36, faces more than 100 years in prison. He is to be sentenced Friday in San Fernando Superior Court.
The jury, which returned most of the verdicts Monday after four days of deliberations, deadlocked on a remaining count of attempted kidnaping.
Prosecutors said Donaldson stalked three girls in September and October, 1993, as they headed to school, and then kidnaped and sexually assaulted them.
He was caught on Oct. 20, 1993, when officers on a stakeout rushed to the rescue of a 9-year-old girl who they believe would have been his next victim.
