First-round draft pick Joey Galloway caught a deflected pass from Rick Mirer to score on a 56-yard play with 11 seconds left in the first half, and the Seattle Seahawks defeated the Saints, 24-19, in an exhibition game at New Orleans.

The big pass play gave Seattle a 17-13 halftime lead, and a 10-yard touchdown run by Lamar Smith in the fourth quarter clinched the victory.

Mirer completed six of 12 for 137 yards and a touchdown, and Saint starter Jim Everett, in a quarter and a half, completed nine of 17 passes for 88 yards one touchdown.

Aeneas Williams intercepted Steve Walsh’s pass and returned it 37 yards for a touchdown with 7:24 left as the Arizona Cardinals stayed unbeaten in exhibition play, edging the Bears, 17-16, in Chicago.

Eric Swann had four of Arizona’s six sacks.

Veteran Dave Krieg was 25 for 42 for 266 yards playing the whole game for the Cardinals.
