VENTURA : Cancer Survivor Day to Celebrate Life
Doctors, nurses and administrators at Ventura County Medical Center will sponsor a cancer survivor day on Sunday for those who have fought cancer and been patients at the hospital.
Called “Celebration of Life,” the event will include food, entertainment, recreation activities and drawings for tickets to Disneyland, Six Flags Magic Mountain and Sea World. Entertainment will include a country-Western band and a magic show.
“We want to give cancer survivors something fun to do,” said Jane Barbosa, one of the event’s coordinators. “It’s an opportunity for them to celebrate their fighting of the disease.”
The group hopes to turn the celebration into an annual event, Barbosa said.
The celebration will take place from noon to 4 p.m. at El Camino Real Park on Dean Drive and Varsity Street in Ventura. For information, call the Medical Resources Foundation, one of the sponsors of the event, at 648-9872.
