THOUSAND OAKS : Forums to Address Education Issues

Share

Conejo Valley residents who want to comment on current or upcoming items to be discussed by the Ventura County Board of Education can do so at community forums being organized by board member Marty Bates.

Bates, of Thousand Oaks, announced Monday that he will hold his first such meeting Saturday. The meeting is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Supervisor Frank Schillo’s east county office in the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.

Bates said he will hold similar meetings each Saturday preceding a Board of Education meeting. The board meets the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 6 p.m. in the superintendent of schools office in Camarillo.

“It is part of a program to bring a lot of information to the people of eastern Ventura County,” Bates said. “I want input on where people stand so I can represent them.”

The five-member board oversees operations in the superintendent of schools office, which performs administrative services for local school districts and provides alternative education programs for disabled students and those with special needs.
