OUTLOOK

El Dorado is still bitter over the way last season ended. The Golden Hawks won a share of their first league title since 1981, but then had to forfeit their six victories for using an illegible player. Loara wound up taking El Dorado’s playoff spot. “It was very heartbreaking to have that taken away on a technicality,” Jones said. “The kids are anxious to prove something. We’re not going to dwell on last year. They already have that in their guts.” Still, El Dorado has plenty to build upon. The Golden Hawks have qualified for the playoffs the past four years and they won five of their last six games after starting 1-3. Jones said he will continue to stress his no-frills approach to football. “We’re traditionally a running team and we’ll probably continue that,” he said. “We’ll play Chicago Bears-, Green Bay Packers-style football of the 1960s.”
