COLLEGE FOOTBALL : Pittman’s Runs Help Fresno State Get Past Northeast Louisiana, 31-17

FRESNO — Michael Pittman, a sophomore from San Diego, rushed for a career-high 181 yards and scored the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter to lead Fresno State to a 31-17 nonconference victory over Northeast Louisiana Saturday night.
Pittman, who had 25 carries, scored on a nine-yard run with 12:38 left in the game to give Fresno State a 24-17 lead.
Northeast Louisiana took a 10-0 second-quarter lead on an eight-yard scoring pass from Raymond Philyaw to Keith Gardner and a 29-yard field goal by Mike Yocca.
Pittman set up Fresno State’s first score with a 65-yard run in the second quarter. Backup quarterback Jim Arellanes, who replaced starter Richie Donati at the start of the second quarter, completed a seven-yard scoring pass to Charlie Jones for the touchdown. Donati left after getting the wind knocked out.
