VENTURA : Police Arrest Man With Machete
Ventura police responded to reports that a man was threatening people with a machete on Seaward Avenue late Sunday night only to discover the suspect unconscious, the two-foot-long weapon lying next to him and no sign of the person who disarmed him.
Eric Peeler, 20, of Ventura was treated at Ventura County Medical Center, then arrested and booked into county jail on a charge of possession of a deadly weapon.
Several witnesses told police they had seen the suspect chasing a woman with a small child, but by the time officers arrived on the scene, the woman was gone.
Witnesses also said they saw Peeler apparently being punched with his own weapon.
Police could not locate the person who allegedly confronted Peeler.
An investigation is continuing and police are asking anyone with more information to contact the Police Department.
