CSUN Football Team Takes Another Loss

Share

The number of Cal State Northridge’s experienced football players continues to dwindle after Monday’s decision to have senior receiver David Romines use his redshirt year this season and undergo surgery on his left shoulder.

“That’s a big blow,” said Jeff Kearin, Northridge’s receivers coach. “He’s probably our most productive offensive player.”

Romines, who caught 44 passes for 870 yards last season, suffered a separated shoulder several years ago and the injury has worsened since last spring.

Northridge also has lost linebacker Joe Pierro, who is academically ineligible. Another returning starter, senior running back Darren Walton, will find out today whether he is academically eligible.

Northridge began camp with six returning full-time starters.
