OUTLOOK
Sharrar’s team is deep and talented--and determined to expunge the bitter memory of a disastrous season in 1994. Cooper and Downey figure to be key in the planned turnaround. Cooper, in only his second season of organized football, was selected first-team all-league last season. He caught 45 passes for 450 yards and three touchdowns, and is a major Division I prospect. Likewise, Downey has attracted recruiters’ attention. He often overpowers his counterparts on both offense and defense. Sharrar needs huge seasons from each player.
