OUTLOOK

Randall takes over from longtime Coach Tom Caffrey, who compiled a 132-60-1 record and made the team a perennial contender for league titles. Only twice have the Heralds had losing seasons since starting an 11-man program in 1973. Randall isn’t a newcomer to Whittier Christian, having been involved with the athletic program for a decade. However, he has scrapped the Heralds’ offensive and defensive systems. The changes likely will extend the learning process into the Olympic League season, but Randall believes the payoff will be well worth it. This team is among the strongest in school history. Duffy and Brosz represented Whittier Christian on the all-league team last season. Duffy is second only to Brethren Christian’s Kevin Cooper among the league’s tight ends. Brosz is as powerful in run blocking as he is crafty in pass defense. Algorri, Coppes and Pena will battle for carries.
