L.A. Man Found Slain in Santa Ana

A 35-year-old Los Angeles County man described by police as a transient was shot to death in Santa Ana early Saturday, authorities said.

The man, identified as Elgin Earl Taylor from the unincorporated Rancho Dominguez area of Los Angeles, was found about 2 a.m. lying near a sidewalk in the 1800 block of West 2nd Street, Santa Ana Police Sgt. Dick Faust said.

Police were sent to the area after a caller reported hearing several gunshots, Faust said. The victim suffered one gunshot wound although several shell casings were found near the body, Faust said. “We have no witnesses,” he said. “It was a typical ‘shots fired’ call and you get there and there’s a body.”
