The body of a 63-year-old woman was discovered by Los Angeles police officers Tuesday inside a Tujunga condominium after a worried friend reported she had been missing for almost two days.
The woman, whose family has yet to be notified, apparently had been dead for at least 24 hours, police said, when her body was discovered at her residence.
According to a friend of the woman’s family, who asked not to be identified, the last time anyone spoke with her was late Sunday evening.
“She was supposed to deliver a load of laundry to her mother,” the friend said. “When she didn’t show up all day yesterday, her mother got worried and asked me to check up on her.”
The dead woman, she said, had a history of mental illness.
“It’s too soon to tell how she died,” LAPD Sgt. Jerry Burns said. “The coroner’s office won’t be able to tell until later in the week.”
