MISSION VIEJO : 10-Acre Brush Fire’s Cause Investigated
- Share via
A 10-acre brush fire near O’Neill Regional Park was extinguished by 75 firefighters Tuesday.
The 3 p.m. blaze, near Olympiad Road and Escatron, was contained in less than 90 minutes, Orange County Fire Authority spokeswoman Emmy Day said. Its cause remains under investigation.
“The power lines nearby were still up, so we don’t believe it was electrically caused,” Day said.
As fire season picks up with the Santa Ana winds, Day said, “we respond pretty heavily to any vegetation [fire] report.” Firefighters “never know how big it’s going to be.”
Authorities urged that any sign of a fire be reported.
“We’d rather have a hundred calls on something that may be nothing,” Day said.
