Bid to Toughen City Ethics Law Delayed for Further Study

Share

A proposal by Los Angeles City Councilmen Mike Feuer and Joel Wachs to prohibit significant violators of city ethics laws from doing business with the city or from lobbying officials for four years was referred Wednesday to the city Ethics Commission for study and a formal recommendation to the council next month.

After a committee hearing and round-table discussion with several ethics experts, Feuer said that new ideas had emerged, making further review necessary.

The two council members said the Ethics Commission plans to make a recommendation on the matter at a meeting Oct. 18.
