Concert to Help Find Marrow Donors

Share

In hopes of finding bone-marrow donors for the 109 Ventura County patients needing a match, the eighth annual “Give Kids a Chance” concert will be held at Freedom Park at the Camarillo Airport on Sunday.

The concert is held each year to find volunteers to donate marrow to the patients, 83 of whom are children. Organizers hope to test 700 volunteers Sunday.

While the testing is going on, several bands have been lined up to perform. Food booths and arts and crafts tables will be set up, and a silent auction is scheduled.

Included in the auction are hot-air balloon rides, dinner at area restaurants and $500 in groceries.

Each donor will be asked to pay $45 for the bone-marrow test, and all donations are tax-deductible. The concert will last from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
