Sophomore Damian Defeo threw three touchdown passes to lead University to a 31-0 victory over Azusa Friday night a Citrus College.

Defeo completed 9 of 18 passes for 158 yards for the Trojans (2-0), who scored all 31 points in the first half.

University took a 7-0 lead when Defeo connected with Kelvin Murray on a 75-yard touchdown pass with 4:56 left in the first quarter.

University got the ball back but fumbled it away on its 25-yard line.

The Trojans increased the lead to 14-0 on a 16-yard touchdown from Defeo to Gearson Contento with 2:04 left in the first quarter.

University took a 21-0 lead on a six-yard pass from Defeo to Fred Roberts with 5:51 left in the second quarter.

Azusa then fumbled the ensuing kickoff and University’s Jarrett Mahoney returned it 18 yards for the touchdown, putting the Trojans ahead, 28-0.

University’s Brett Lockwood then hit a 30-yard field goal as time ran out in the second quarter, giving the a Trojans a 31-0 lead.

Murray was the teams’ second-leading rusher with 42 yards in seven carries.

University did not turn the ball over and was penalized only five times for 35 yards. Azusa was flagged seven times for 85 yards.

Azusa (0-2) fumbled the ball away four times. University shut out Azusa, 28-0, last year in Irvine.
