Two alleged gang members were arrested Saturday in the shooting death of a 17-year-old Huntington Park High School student after a high school football game, police said.

The two suspects, whose names were withheld because of their age, were booked and were being held in Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall in Downey, according to Huntington Park Police Lt. Steve Peeler. Police said they plan to make other arrests.

The slain teen-ager was shot as he drove home from the game about 9:30 p.m. Friday, six blocks from the high school. Police said the unidentified student was shot when at least one assailant opened fire on the car he was riding in. He died a short time later at Community Hospital.

Peeler said the victim was not a gang member. There was no known motive for the shooting.
