Possible Arson Fire Chars 300 Acres
A brush fire charred about 300 acres before being extinguished early Sunday, and officials were calling it a possible arson.
Twenty separate blazes started burning in the same 20 acres of high desert about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, near the intersection of 110th Street and Avenue I, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Rodriguez said.
The fires joined and swept through about 300 acres until more than 200 firefighters extinguished the flames about 1 a.m., Rodriguez said. There were no injuries. Several horses were evacuated from a barn before it was consumed.
The Sheriff’s Department’s arson squad is investigating, Rodriguez said.
