VENTURA : Neighborhood Cleanup Planned

Share

The public is invited to help clean up trash Sunday morning in the Ramona Street neighborhood of Ventura.

The cleanup is part of an effort to improve the appearance of a neighborhood with a history of drug dealing and crime, according to volunteers staffing a nearby police storefront, which is helping organize the event.

“These cleanups have worked terrifically in the past,” said Mariana Weaver, a storefront volunteer. “Ramona Street has really improved.”

Volunteers are asked to meet at Fire Station No. 1 at West Ramona Street and Ventura Avenue at 9:30 a.m. They will be asked to pick up trash on the streets and sidewalks of West Ramona, West Harrison and Riverside streets, and Sheridan Way. There will be a barbecue at noon after the cleanup.
