The Ventura County district attorney's office filed murder charges on Thursday against a Camarillo man accused of shooting his brother in the chest, killing him.
Police arrested Randy Waggoner, 37, in Victorville about 4 a.m. Tuesday on suspicion of shooting Tracey Waggoner, 36, in Camarillo five hours earlier.
The brothers had been drinking and arguing before the shooting, police said.
About 11 p.m. Monday, Tracey Waggoner confronted Randy Waggoner outside their parents' house on Cartegena Street. Randy Waggoner was puncturing his brother's tires with a knife, police said.
Randy Waggoner then shot his brother in the chest with a small-caliber rifle at close range, left him on the sidewalk and drove off, police said.
He was apprehended in San Bernardino County, where he had fled to see a girlfriend, police said.
Waggoner was in custody Thursday at the Ventura County Jail, with bail set at $250,000. He is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 19 in Ventura County Municipal Court.
