Hall Claims Two Wheelchair Titles
David Hall of Australia won the men’s singles title and teamed with Michael Foulks of La Jolla to take the doubles title on the final day of the U.S. Open wheelchair tennis championships Sunday at the Irvine Racquet Club.
It was the first U.S. Open title for second-seeded Hall, who beat top-seeded Steve Welch of Arlington, Tex., 6-3, 2-6, 7-6, in the final. Hall grabbed the top ranking in the world with the victory.
Hall and Foulks beat Martin Legner of Austria and Ricky Molier of the Netherlands, 6-1, 7-5, in the doubles final.
