University remained undefeated, getting its fourth shutout of the year with a 35-0 victory over Laguna Beach in a Pacific Coast League game Friday night at Irvine High.

University (7-0, 2-0) and Laguna Hills are tied for the league lead. University, ranked No.1 in Division VIII and No.9 in Orange County, plays host to Laguna Hills next Thursday at Irvine High.

University, which has given up only 21 points this year, limited Laguna Beach (2-5, 0-2) to 84 yards in total offense.

University took a 7-0 lead when Jarrett Mahoney scored on an 11-yard run with 10:22 left in the first quarter.

Following a Laguna Beach fumble, University scored again. Quarterback Damian DeFeo connected with Bryant Geary on a 32-yard touchdown pass, putting the Trojans ahead, 14-0, with 9:19 left in the first quarter.

Mahoney’s three-yard run with 2:54 left in the first quarter gave University a 21-0 lead.

The Trojans moved out to a 28-0 lead on Kelvin Murray’s one-yard run with 9:24 remaining in the second quarter.

University went ahead, 35-0, after a 19-yard touchdown pass from DeFeo to Fred Roberts with 48 seconds left in the third quarter.

DeFeo led University, completing nine of 11 passes for 117 yards. Murray rushed for 55 yards in eight carries.

Mike Catalano led Laguna Beach, rushing for 90 yards in 22 carries.
