Graffiti at Park Harms More Than Property

Share

* After a month’s absence, I was incensed when I walked onto the Northridge Dearborn Park tennis courts the first week in October and saw red graffiti numbers and words, one reading “El Salvador,” on the green court surface, plus white spray-painting on the upper netting. I’m fed up with graffiti and the people who do it.

The vast majority of Americans have immigrant heritage; they’re people who came to this country for freedom and a better lot in life. Most have pursued education and made positive contributions to our nation. Our multicultural backgrounds are responsible for making the United States the greatest country. Why is it that when Los Angeles parks offer free recreation to individuals of every age, a few choose to desecrate these areas?

People who do not appreciate the United States and all that if offers should be returned to their country of choice, as evidenced by the graffiti. Others should be willing to pitch in and assist in eradicating graffiti.
