VENTURA : Council Candidates to Appear at Forum

The Westside Community Council is sponsoring a Ventura City Council candidates forum Thursday evening at the Avenue Adult Center.

Traditionally, the Ventura Avenue area has had the lowest voter registration and turnout in the county.

But the community council is encouraging participation in the election process this year by holding a forum, registering voters and encouraging residents to go to the polls Nov. 7.

Twelve candidates are seeking three open seats on the seven-member City Council this year. Many have listed revitalization of the Avenue area as a campaign goal.

Thursday's forum, which is free and open to the public, starts at 6:30 p.m. and is expected to last until 8:30 p.m. For more information, call 652-1978.
