Anaheim, now famous as a tourist destination, was popular in the 1870s as a health resort.
Writers Charles Nordoff and Ben C. Truman touted its climate, which the Anaheim Gazette later described as “combining more of the desirable qualities and fewer of the undesirable qualities than any other place in Southern California.”
