PREP EXTRA: SATURDAY FOOTBALL PULLOUT : Aliso Niguel Rolls Past Laguna Beach

Aliso Niguel crashed Laguna Beach’s homecoming party and left with a 36-7 victory Friday night in a Pacific Coast League game.

Aliso Niguel is 6-2, 2-1 in league. Laguna Beach fell to 2-6, 0-3.

Aliso Niguel, slowed on its first possession, took control late in the first quarter when quarterback Scott Nemeth rolled left on a bootleg, scoring from 11 yards out and giving the Wolverines a 7-0 lead.

Aliso Niguel made it 14-0 before the half. Nemeth hit John Hefty for 32 yards on the Laguna Beach 16. Two plays later, Nick Gerasimou scored from the five.

Gerasimou rushed for 144 yards in 19 carries, scoring two touchdowns before being replaced early in the fourth.

Laguna Beach started the second half with an onside kick, only to see the Wolverines recover on their 37. Six plays later, the Wolverines had first and 10 on the Laguna Beach 17-yard line. Nemeth dropped back and hit Andrew Mashburn on a 17-yard touchdown pass for a 20-0 lead.

Gerasimou’s second score, a three-yard run with four minutes one second left in the third quarter, gave Aliso Niguel a 27-0 lead.

An errant punt snap out of the end zone by Laguna Beach made it 29-0. Hefty returned the ensuing kickoff 73 yards for a score to make it 36-0.

Laguna Beach spoiled the shutout with less than five minutes left in the game.
