ROUNDUP : Fullove, Louisville First at Finish

Shaluinn Fullove of Louisville High rolled to her second consecutive individual title and the Royals swept five of the top six places in the Mission League cross-country finals at Griffith Park on Friday.

Fullove timed 17 minutes 58 seconds over the 2.9-mile course as Louisville totaled 19 points to outdistance runner-up Alemany, which had 61 points. Flintridge Sacred Heart, paced by second-place finisher Melissa MacPherson, took third with 64 points.

MacPherson, runner-up to Fullove in last year’s Southern Section Division IV championships, timed 18:20.

Ashley Caro (18:44), Kelly Harrington (19:05), Erin Spaulding (19:21) and Jenny Villar (19:31) took the next four places for Louisville, the top-ranked team in the state Division IV poll.

Kevin Koeper and Andy Van Orden of St. Francis placed 1-2 in the boys’ race to propel the Golden Knights to a 26-37 victory over Loyola and their second consecutive league title.

Koeper finished third in last year’s Southern Section Division III championships.

Koeper timed 14:55, with Van Orden at 15:29.

Loyola took the next three places Friday, but Steve Garcia (16:07), Pat Jaquez (16:24) and Scott Bergen (16:27) finished sixth, eighth and ninth for St. Francis, the state’s second-ranked Division III team behind Nordhoff.

HIGH SCHOOL WATER POLO

Harvard-Westlake 14, Loyola 8--Rick Rauth scored five goals, Dave Stone three and Brett Hool two as the Wolverines (18-7, 10-0 in league play) clinched the Mission League title at Harvard-Westlake. Goalie Vahe Aharonian had nine saves for the Wolverines, who have won eight consecutive league championships.

Bell Gardens 18, Burroughs 7--Mike Denny made 16 saves and Alfonso Tucay, Eric Denny and Greg Paggi each scored two goals for Burroughs (17-6, 5-2) in the Allmont League tournament championship match at Rio Hondo College.

Royal 26, Newbury Park 11--Chris Richeson had seven goals for the visiting Highlanders (20-4, 8-0) in the Marmonte Leaguefinale.

Newbury Park (15-7, 5-3) was led by Tim Rhodes’ four goals.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Buena d. Hueneme, 13-15, 15-12, 15-9, 16-14--Tammy Campbell had 17 kills and 18 digs for host Hueneme in a match to break a third-place tie in the Channel League.

Hueneme and Buena finished deadlocked with 9-5 league records. Buena advances to the playoffs that start next week.

MEN’S SOCCER

Moorpark 0, Mission 0--Damon Harris had eight saves for Moorpark (7-4-4, 4-1-2 in conference play) and Diego Valencia had two for the Free Spirit (7-2-5, 2-2-3) in a Western State Conference match at Mission’s home field in Van Nuys.
