PREP FOOTBALL / DELTA LEAGUE : Heritage Christian Wins Rare Championship
Heritage Christian captured the Delta League championship, its first league football title in 27 years, with a 54-30 victory over Wildomar California Lutheran Saturday at California Lutheran.
The Patriots’ last league championship came in 1968, when they won the Academy League title in six-man football and advanced to the CIF championship game. In that game, the Patriots lost to Pacific Christian, 53-43.
Josh Loera led the Patriots with 147 yards and four touchdowns, Dave Acheson added two touchdowns and 129 yards and Jared Zielinski had 106 yards and two touchdowns. The Patriots did not attempt a pass.
Heritage Christian improved 8-1, 5-0 in league. California Lutheran drops to 7-1, 4-1.
