Three Harvard-Westlake High defenders tackled St. Monica’s E.J. Rodriguez for a safety late in the game, giving the Wolverines a 15-14 Camino Real League victory Saturday at Harvard-Westlake.

With a little more than three minutes left to play, Rodriguez took a pitch about five yards deep in the end zone and was tripped up by a pack of Wolverines headed by Pat Nesbitt.

Abed Abusaleh gained 210 yards in 30 carries and scored on touchdown runs of one and 54 yards for Harvard (4-6, 3-1 in league play).

He had a 60-yard touchdown run called back because of a holding penalty.

Harvard survived a scare when St. Monica fumbled at the Wolverine one early in the final quarter.

St. Monica’s first score was set up when Daniel North returned a fumble 41 yards to the Harvard four. North scored on the next play.

Harvard fumbled five times, losing three, while the Mariners (1-8, 1-3) fumbled twice and threw one interception.
