The Ventura County Transportation Commission has voted to join the likes of Ventura County government, Caltrans and numerous other public agencies by launching a page on the World Wide Web.
By February, bus passengers, bike trail users and others will be able to access schedules, maps and other information on the computer network.
“The pieces [of information] that are easy will come right away,” said Ginger Gherardi, executive director of the county Transportation Commission. “The pieces that are more difficult [to install] will fall at the end.”
The commission voted unanimously to pay $54,000 to Aegir Systems of Oxnard to open the Web page, including all the needed computer hardware, software and connections.
Under terms of the contract, Aegir Systems will train commission employees how to use the page, Gherardi said.
