In other Division II first-round games:

Antelope Valley 42, Pasadena 7--Jermaine Lewis returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown and ran for three other scores as the Antelopes routed Pasadena (5-6) in Lancaster.

Lewis (10-1) rushed for 112 yards in 12 carries for the Antelopes.

Antelope Valley won with only 220 yards of total offense, forced eight Pasadena fumbles and recovering five.

The Bulldogs came right back with a 69-yard pass from Jamal Strong to Steve Scipio, tying the score early in the first quarter. Strong would finish with 171 yards passing, hitting nine of his 15 attempts. Scipio caught three passes for 114 yards.

Then Lewis and the Antelopes, not showing any ill effects from having eight five players found ineligible because of grades earlier this week, plowed ahead and made it a runaway.

The Antelope defense was especially tough in the second half, taking the ball away on fumbles on five of the Bulldogs’ six possessions.
