Jim Druckenmiller threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to Jermaine Holmes with 47 seconds remaining and No. 20 Virginia Tech (9-2) went on to a 36-29 nonconference victory over No. 13 Virginia (8-4) Saturday at Charlottesville, Va.

Virginia Tech, 6-1 in the Big East, is assured of at least a share of the conference title with Miami or Syracuse, who meet next Saturday. Miami and Syracuse are both 5-1.

The Hokies, who have won nine in a row, went into the fourth quarter trailing Virginia, 29-14. The touchdown pass to Holmes gave the Hokies a 30-29 lead, and then Antonio Banks returned an interception 65 yards for a touchdown on the game’s final play.

No. 25 Miami (7-3, 5-1) made a goal-line stand with four minutes left and overcame several squandered scoring chances for a 17-12 Big East victory over West Virginia (4-6, 3-3) at Miami. The Hurricanes remain in contention for a Jan. 1 bowl and the league co-championship. . . . Freshman fullback Rob Konrad scored three touchdowns in the first quarter to spark No. 23 Syracuse (8-2, 5-1) to a 58-29 victory over Boston College (3-8, 3-3) at Syracuse, N.Y. It was the Orangemen’s most lopsided victory over Boston College since a 30-0 victory in 1966 and avenged their 31-0 loss to the Eagles last season.

Steve Carpenter ran for two touchdowns and Jerrold Tyquiengco returned an interception 33 yards for another score to lead Army (4-5-1) to a 37-6 victory over Bucknell (7-4) at West Point, N.Y. . . . Backup quarterback Chris McCoy threw two touchdown passes and ran for two scores as Navy (5-5) won, 35-7, over Tulane (2-9) at Annapolis, Md. Army plays Navy Dec. 2. . . . Ray Lucas’ second touchdown pass to Steven Harper, with 1:28 remaining, lifted Rutgers (4-6, 2-4) to a 23-20 Big East victory over Temple (1-10, 1-6) at Philadelphia.

Eion Hu, who rushed for 175 yards in 33 carries, scored from the two with 29 seconds left to give Harvard (2-8, 1-8) a 22-21 Ivy League victory over Yale (3-7, 2-5) at New Haven, Conn., in the 112th meeting between the two schools. . . . Quarterback Brock Harvey ran 22 yards on third and 15 to set up an 18-yard field goal with one second left to give Princeton (8-1-1, 5-1-1) a 10-10 Ivy League tie with Dartmouth (7-2-1, 4-2-1) at Hanover, N.H. The tie gave Princeton its first outright Ivy League title since 1964. . . . Pennsylvania forced six turnovers, converting two into touchdowns within 13 seconds, as the Quakers (7-3, 5-2) rolled to a 37-18 Ivy League victory over Cornell (6-3, 5-2). . . . Marquis Jessie carried 23 times for 149 yards and two touchdowns to spark Brown (5-5, 2-5) to a 33-14 Ivy League victory over Columbia (3-6, 3-4) at Providence, R.I.

Jerris McPhail ended his regular season with a career-high 209 rushing yards and two touchdowns as East Carolina (8-3) broke away in the second half for a 31-17 victory over Memphis (3-8) at Greenville, N.C. After the game, the Pirates got an official invitation to the Liberty Bowl. . . . Marty Lowe passed for four touchdowns as Louisville (7-4) rolled to a 57-14 victory over North Texas (2-9) at Louisville, Ky. . . . Robert Tate returned the second-half kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown and Cincinnati (6-5) came up a 24-5 victor over Tulsa (4-7) at Tulsa, Okla. . . . Fred Brock’s touchdown reception with 36 seconds left in the first half, his second of the game, staked Southern Mississippi (6-5) to a 21-point lead and the Golden Eagles held off Southwestern Louisiana’s second-half comeback bid to take a 35-32 victory at Lafayette, La.

Cody Ledbetter completed 34 of 56 passes for a season-high 546 yards and four touchdowns as New Mexico State (4-7, 3-3) rolled to a 58-34 Big West victory over Nevada Las Vegas (2-8, 1-5) at Las Vegas. . . . Abu Wilson ran for two touchdowns and Patrick Mullins passed for two as Utah State (4-7, 4-2) rolled to a 38-22 Big West victory over Pacific (3-8, 2-4) at Logan, Utah.
