Riordan Will Join Clinton in Four-Day Trip to Ireland
Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan will join President Clinton on a four-day mission to Ireland next week to promote peace and business investment in the United States, officials said Wednesday.
Riordan, who is Irish American, will be part of the delegation of 40 political, religious, labor and business leaders, said Steve Sugerman, a top aide to Riordan. Like the others on the trip, Riordan will pay his own way, Sugerman said.
The delegation is scheduled to leave Wednesday and return Dec. 3, visiting Dublin, Belfast and western Ireland.
This will be the first time the Republican mayor has traveled with Clinton, a Democrat.
