Football Second-Round Playoffs : TONIGHT’S GAMES

Kennedy (10-1) vs. Corona del Mar (8-3), Orange Coast College, 7:30 p.m.

This is a rematch from Corona del Mar’s most turbulent week of the season. Kennedy beat the Sea Kings in Week 3, 17-10, on Darin Martineau’s 81-yard touchdown run with 3:02 left. Earlier that week, Corona del Mar Coach Mark Schuster had been arrested for allegedly molesting his adopted daughter. This is a rematch the Sea Kings are looking for against a team they feel they can beat. Josh Walz has passed for 1,310 yards and has twice as many touchdowns (12) as interceptions, while Kennedy’s Tom Haas has thrown for 1,530 yards, 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Turnovers will be crucial. Kennedy’s allowing only 9.7 points per game and Corona del Mar is averaging 29.3; Kennedy is scoring 21.5 per game, and the Sea Kings are allowing 14.5.
