Coach: Martin Stringer (eighth year).
1994-95: 15-7-1, 6-3-1 in the South Coast League; lost to Simi Valley Royal, 3-1, in first round of the Division I playoffs.
Key returners: Giancarlo Barzotti, defender, Western Regional Olympic Development player, So.; Greg Bechtold, forward, 15 goals last season, So.; Norman Giroux, sweeper, sweeper for under-16 national team, So.; Kris Hulgreen, midfielder, first team all-league and second team All-Southern Section, Jr.
Key newcomers: Doug Allan, goalkeeper, Fr.; Walter Camargo, midfielder, transfer from Cerritos Gahr, Jr.; Brett Corbin, midfielder, under-16 state team, So.
Outlook: The Monarchs have made the playoffs in all seven seasons under Stringer, and with six starters and nine lettermen back, this season should be no exception. Stringer took his team to France, England and Denmark this summer to play against some of the world’s best junior players, so the Monarchs should be ready for South Coast League competition. A second Division I title in three seasons is a distinct possibility.
