Rodney Peete didn’t get benched this week, but Randall Cunningham was warming up on the sideline as the game slipped away from the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth quarter.

The Seattle Seahawks, coming off a loss to the New York Jets in the Kingdome last week, beat the Eagles, 26-14, as Todd Peterson kicked a career-best four field goals and Chris Warren and Rick Mirer each ran for a touchdown.

Peete’s last chance to catch the Seahawks ended when Robert Blackmon intercepted him with 2:13 left at the Seattle 35.

Peete, benched for two series in the second half in a victory at Washington last Sunday, couldn’t overcome Peterson’s field goals of 47, 35, 37 and 45 yards. It was only the second loss in nine games for the Eagles since Peete replaced Cunningham as Philadelphia’s starting quarterback.

Peterson booted his 47-yarder as time ran out in the first half for a 17-7 Seattle lead. He made the score 20-7 with his 35-yarder in the third quarter and, after Ricky Watters’ second touchdown run for the Eagles early in the fourth quarter, kicked a 37-yard field goal with 5:51 gone in the final quarter.

Peterson kicked his fourth, a 45-yarder, with 3:55 left. He has kicked 10 field goals in his last 11 attempts, including six in a row, and he’s 18 for 23 for the season.

The Eagles (8-5) ended their three-game winning streak, losing for only the second time in nine weeks. The Seahawks (6-7) have won four of five.

Watters scored Philadelphia’s touchdowns on a one-yard run late in the first half and a five-yard run with 1:17 gone in the final quarter for his fourth consecutive two-touchdown rushing game. But the Seahawks held the Eagles to a season-low 69 yards, their first game of less than 100 this year.

Peete was 19 for 36 for 200 yards with one interception. Watters rushed 21 times for 60 yards.

Mirer was 17 for 30 for 169 yards and rushed seven times for 40 yards. Warren gained 93 yards in 27 carries.
