VENTURA : Victim of Apparent Stabbing Is Sought

Share

In somewhat of a switch, police were looking Friday for the victim of an apparent stabbing and robbery in Ventura rather than the assailant.

Two people walking their dogs at Cemetery Park on Main Street about 8:20 a.m. Friday told police they encountered a Spanish-speaking, 16- to 20-year-old male leaning against a tree with a blood-soaked shirt and what looked to be a stab wound to his chest.

The two said they attempted to help the apparent victim, who told them a man had confronted him and demanded his bicycle. When the bicyclist refused, the man stabbed him and robbed him of $400 cash, but not the bike, police said.

Despite his wound, he asked the pair not to call police and rode away on his bicycle down Main Street, officials said.

Police have notified hospitals and are continuing to search for the apparent victim for further investigation. If it can be determined the incident occurred, police will look for a suspect.
