COUNTYWIDE : SIMI VALLEY : L.A. Painter Dies in Fiery Accident
An 28-year-old Los Angeles painter died early Sunday after his car went off the road, hit a boulder and caught fire near Simi Valley, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Felix Lopez was eastbound about 2 a.m. on Santa Susana Pass Road, just past Clear Springs Road, when his car drifted off the right side, authorities said. The car crossed an asphalt and dirt shoulder, struck a boulder and then overturned and caught fire, the CHP said.
Authorities do not know how fast the car was traveling or what caused it to go off the road. Lopez died of smoke and carbon monoxide inhalation, a Ventura County coroner’s investigator said.
