PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : Cox Fined $17,500 for Incident

The NFL fined Miami Dolphin linebacker Bryan Cox $17,500 and Buffalo Bill fullback Carwell Gardner $15,000 Thursday over their fight in Sunday’s game.
Both players were fined $10,000 by director of football development Gene Washington for the fight.
Cox received an additional $7,500 fine by Commissioner Paul Tagliabue for spitting toward the Buffalo fans as he walked off the field.
Gardner was penalized an extra $5,000 by Tagliabue for trying to get into the Miami locker room, then trying to bait Cox off the Dolphins’ team bus.

Carlton Haselrig’s wife, Sara, has accused the suspended New York Jet lineman of beating her at her home in Marietta, Ga.
Sara Haselrig, who is separated from her husband, filed a affidavit claiming he “was verbally and physically abusing me, with threats to kill me.”
Haselrig, arrested Tuesday on a simple battery charge, remained in jail awaiting extradition to Allegheny County, Pa., where he faces charges for missing a court appearance earlier this month.

Former Arizona Cardinal Luis Sharpe was arrested in Detroit after officials responded to a call about a domestic dispute and ran a computer check on him.
Sharpe was wanted on an arrest warrant in Arizona, which he left after missing an arraignment on drug charges in Phoenix on Dec. 15.
